Background
NASA Glenn Research Center is issuing a solicitation under the HyTEC NRA Appendix A to support the Hybrid Thermally Efficient Core (HyTEC) Project. The goal is to accelerate the development of small turbofan engine core technologies, culminating in an advanced core ground demonstration by 2026.

Work Details
The contract involves developing small core engine technology concepts to TRL 4-5 by 2023, focusing on combustion technologies, sustainable aviation fuels compatibility testing, and power extraction capabilities.

Tasks include project management, design, fabrication and assembly, technology development and testing, and technology assessment. Contractors must provide a technology development plan, conduct design reviews, fabricate and assemble hardware, perform testing to mature technologies to TRL 4-5, and assess technology benefits relative to HyTEC goals.

Period of Performance
A two-year period of performance is anticipated for the research proposed under this announcement.
