This SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT is for informational and market research purposes only. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS, QUOTATIONS, OR BIDS, NOR A SYNOPSIS OF A PROPOSED CONTRACT ACTION UNDER FAR SUBPART 5.2. The proposed action will be a firm-fixed price contract. The type of solicitation to be issued will depend upon information received in response to this sources sought announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this sources sought announcement or any follow-up information.

Responses to this sources sought announcement will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. NO SOLICITATION IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. This is not a request to be placed on a solicitation mailing list and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The purpose of this sources sought announcement is to gain knowledge of potentially qualified Small Business, 8(a), Woman Owned Small Business, Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, and HUBZone contractor sources; to the NAICS code 333517 Machine Tool Manufacturing, PSC code 3416- Lathes, and Small Business Size Standard 500 employees. Depending upon the responses associated with the business categories listed above, the solicitation will either be set aside in one of those categories or be issued as unrestricted and open to both small and large businesses. Responses to this announcement are not an adequate response to any future solicitation announcement.

That can be any of the following: Cannot meet the Buy American 65% manufatured in the US, if it must be shipped from outside the US, anything that is restrictive or limiting competiton, is 120 days After Receipt of Oder to short/long/just right, etc.

Background
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking to acquire one High Speed Precision Gap Bed Lathe for use at Chief Joseph Dam in Bridgeport, Washington. This sources sought announcement aims to gather information on potentially qualified contractors, including Small Business, 8(a), Woman Owned Small Business, Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, and HUBZone sources. The contract will be a firm-fixed price and may be set aside for small businesses based on the responses received.

Work Details
The contract requires the delivery of one High Speed Precision Gap Bed Lathe with the following specifications:
- Origin: Must be American made
- Casting: Must be a 1-piece casting
- Bed Ways: Hardened and ground to a minimum of HR-70
- Design: Tri-V ways
- Carriage Ways: Turcite-B anti-friction material

Capacity Requirements:
- Swing Over Bed: At least 17 inches
- Distance Between Centers: Between 57 and 60 inches
- Spindle Bore Diameter: At least 3.125 inches
- Bed Gap: Minimum of 7.5 inches in front of the chuck
- Tailstock Quill Travel: At least 5 inches of travel

Features & Safety Requirements:
- Brake: Full-length foot brake required
- Guarding: Easily removable lead screw and feed rod cover required
- Threading Capability: Must cut both inch and metric threads without manual gear changes in the gearbox
- Cross-Slide: Backlash eliminator on the cross-slide lead screw required
- Electrical Configuration: Must be configured for 480V, 3-phase power
