Description

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the General Services Administration (GSA), is conducting market research to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network. This initiative is managed by the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) within the Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice (DEHSP). The overarching goal of this contract is to enhance public health by collecting, integrating, analyzing, and disseminating data related to non-infectious diseases, environmental factors, and socio-economic conditions. This data-driven approach aims to identify potential health risks associated with environmental hazards and inform policy decisions that can protect communities across the nation.

The scope of work involves providing technical assistance services essential for the ongoing development, implementation, improvement, and maintenance of the Tracking Network. This includes ensuring that data from various national, state, and local partners are effectively integrated into a cohesive system that can be used to drive public health actions. The work supports multiple branches within DEHSP such as the Emerging Environmental Hazards and Health Effects Branch (EEHHEB), which focuses on chemical and radiological exposures; the Water, Food, and Environmental Health Services Branch (WFEHSB), which addresses safe water practices; and other branches focused on air quality, asthma prevention, lead poisoning prevention, among others.

Specifically, contractors will be expected to engage in tasks that support system enhancements tailored to meet evolving public health needs. This may include refining data collection methodologies or developing new analytical tools that provide deeper insights into environmental health trends. Moreover, fostering collaboration between various health agencies is a key component of this project aiming not only at improving data accuracy but also at enhancing communication channels between stakeholders involved in public health tracking.

The ultimate objective of these efforts is not just maintaining an effective tracking network but also advancing environmental public health science through research initiatives. By leveraging comprehensive datasets collected through this network, policymakers can make informed decisions aimed at mitigating risks associated with environmental hazards while promoting healthier communities nationwide.
