Description

Background
The USDA Forest Service is seeking to acquire six heat flux transducers for fire research applications. These instruments are essential for conducting experiments related to fire behavior, which guide research activities within this field.

The need for additional sensors arises from scheduled projects that require precise measurement of heat energy transfer in various scenarios, such as evaluating the heat output of fires in specific environments.

Work Details
The contract requires the supply and delivery of a total of six heat flux transducers with the following specifications:
- 4 units: Water-cooled radiant and total heat flux transducer, 1-inch (25.4 mm) diameter, smooth-bodied, sapphire window, Schmidt-Boelter style; measurement range up to approximately 250 kW/m²; body temperature tolerance up to 205°C; linear output with ±3% nonlinearity; gas-purge capable.
- 2 units: Water-cooled radiant-only heat flux transducer, 1/8-inch (3.175 mm) diameter, sapphire window, Schmidt-Boelter style; measurement range up to approximately 250 kW/m²; body temperature tolerance up to 205°C; linear output with ±3% nonlinearity; gas-purge capable.

Period of Performance
Delivery is expected as soon as possible, with an understanding that it may take up to six months for the items to arrive.

Place of Performance
Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory, 5775 US Hwy 10 West, Missoula, MT 59808

Bidder Requirements
This acquisition is set-aside for small business concerns. Bidders must meet the requirements for authorized distributors or manufacturers of the specified heat flux transducers.

The applicable North American Industry Classification Standard Code is 334519 with a small business size standard of 600 employees.

Incumbent Analysis (see Incumbents section for more detail)
The prior contract 1240BG25P0056 awarded to Tech Nexuses (value $26,362) for a “Heat Flux Transducers Acquisition” appears to be a confirmed incumbent relationship. The current RFQ again requires supply and delivery of six heat flux transducers for fire research, including water-cooled radiant and total heat flux sensors with similar high-temperature, sapphire-window, Schmidt-Boelter style configurations, suggesting the work is a continuation or follow-on procurement of the same type of instrumentation.

Supply and Deliver six (6) heat flux transducers for fire research applications, including water cooled radiant and total flux sensors meeting the specifications in the attached Statement of Work.

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Quotations are being requested and a separate written solicitation will not be issued.

Solicitation number 1240BE27Q0015 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for heat flux transducers used in fire research.
