The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has an ongoing operational need for personal protective equipment (PPE), Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) Positive Pressure Suits to support the laboratories and offices across NIH and to sustain mission critical activities for public health and safety, and to sustain ongoing agency mission critical research.

Background
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has an ongoing operational need for personal protective equipment (PPE), specifically Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) Positive Pressure Suits. This requirement supports laboratories and offices across NIH to sustain mission-critical activities for public health and safety, as well as ongoing agency research. The contract is intended to be awarded on a non-competitive basis to Honeywell Safety Products USA Inc., located at 855 S Mint St, Charlotte, NC 28202-1517.

Work Details
The contract involves the procurement of BSL-4 Positive Pressure Suits with the following salient characteristics:

1. Made from material resistant to daily quaternary virucidal chemical showers.
2. Each suit must include an in-line HEPA filtration system that connects to a facility-provided breathing air system via standard Parker quick connections.
3. Suits must utilize air provided at 60 PSI and have an internal air distribution system delivering 25 cfm that is HEPA filter exhausted.
4. Air hose hookup shall be on the right side.
5. All seams must be air and watertight.
6. Feet of the suits must be stocking type fitting into shoes or boots.
7. Noise level inside the suit must comply with OSHA standards (90 decibels) allowing clear communication over radio or phone while in the suit.

These suits are designated for use by NIH, CDC, and HHS for emergency response and operations in BSL-4 labs.
