Background
This solicitation is issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the acquisition of a Hamamastu NanoZoomer S20 Digital Automatic Slide Scanner or an equivalent product. The NIH's mission includes advancing health and scientific knowledge, and this contract aims to enhance their capabilities in digital slide scanning for research purposes. The contract will be awarded based on the lowest price technically acceptable criteria.

Work Details
The contractor is required to provide a Hamamastu NanoZoomer S20 Digital Automatic Slide Scanner (C16300-01-BF-KIT) or an equivalent product, which must include the following components:
- Imaging and viewing software:
- Control PC
- NZAcquire image acquisition software
- NDP.view2 image viewing software
- Shipping, installation, and training.

The salient characteristics that 'equal' products must meet include:
1. Must have both automatic and semi-automatic options for rapid digital autoscanning.
2. Fully automatic option for digital autoscanning with precision and detail.
3. Semi-automatic option to allow specified conditions or resolutions assigned to each slide.
4. High volume scanning capabilities (minimum scanning of 20 slides in 15 minutes).
5. 30 seconds to scan an area of 15 mm x 15 mm with 5 focus points.
6. Loads up to 20 slides per basket for efficiency.
7. Produces high-quality images with a scanning resolution of approximately 0.46 um/pixel – 0.23 um/pixel.
8. Small footprint – must fit within dimensions of 485 mm (W) x 615 mm (L) x 450 mm (H) or smaller and weigh approximately 52 kg or less.
9. Control PC with software for image capturing and viewing platform with JPEG image compression (compatible with PC and MAC).
10. AC power supply compatibility from 100 V to 240 V with approximately 150 V of power consumption.
11. Must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with existing systems presently installed, particularly MAC computer systems.
