Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking a qualified contractor to provide fire extinguisher certification services at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System. This contract aims to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations regarding fire safety equipment, specifically portable fire extinguishers, as part of the VA's commitment to maintaining a safe environment for its facilities and personnel.

Work Details
The contractor shall perform annual inspections and servicing of portable fire extinguishers in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Services include:
- Conducting all necessary inspections and services for certification of portable fire extinguishers.
- Providing auxiliary services and disposal of non-compliant extinguishers.
- Coordinating inspection dates and times with the facility's Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
- Documenting inspection results on a checklist provided by the VA, including date, location, condition observations, and any discrepancies.
- Providing a list of extinguishers needing maintenance beyond standard inspections at year-end.
- Supplying necessary consumables such as replacement extinguishers, signage, and cabinets.
- Responding to emergency service calls within 24 hours.
- Training provided by the VA for access to various hospital areas.
- Replacing non-compliant extinguishers with government-owned units when necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations including OSHA standards and California fire codes.

Period of Performance
The contract period is from September 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
