Medical Physicist for the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Rockford VA Clinic, and Madison East Clinic

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing a contract for Radiation Compliance Testing and Performance Monitoring Services (Medical Physicist) at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI, Rockford VA Clinic in Rockford, IL, and Madison East Clinic in Madison, WI.

The goal of this contract is to ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and provide necessary evaluations and monitoring services for X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, and Nuclear Medicine equipment.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, supplies, equipment, and qualified personnel to perform on-site Diagnostic Medical Physicist or Nuclear Medical Physicist support and services. Mandatory services include:

1. Annual inspections of imaging equipment (X-Ray, Fluoroscopy, SPECT cameras) to ensure compliance with ACR requirements; deficiencies must be reported immediately.
2. Acceptance testing of new or relocated imaging equipment prior to first clinical use; deficiencies must be reported immediately.
3. Full inspections after repairs or modifications affecting radiation output or image quality within 48 hours; deficiencies must be reported immediately.
4. Consultation on radiation safety and compliance issues as needed.
5. Shielding design calculations for new/replaced/relocated imaging systems complying with NCRP reports; a shielding survey must be conducted post-installation with results reported within five business days.
6. Annual review of the quality assurance program including technique charts and exposure indices monitoring.

Period of Performance
Base year from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 with four one-year options extending the ultimate completion date to March 31, 2031.
