VISN Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) Services
Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VISN 19 Health Care Systems (HCS) is seeking certified Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) services to support various Health Care System locations. The goal of this contract is to ensure that each VA HCS has a designated MRSE who can provide advanced guidance on magnetic resonance safety issues, thereby enhancing the safety and effectiveness of MRI operations across the facilities.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide MRSE services that meet or exceed standards and regulatory requirements for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The MRSE will serve as a resource for the Magnetic Resonance Medical Doctor (MRMD) and/or Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) in addressing MR-related safety questions. Services include:

1. In-person/on-site functions at each VA HCS location, including:
- Reporting within 72 hours of notification of incidents/emergencies when deemed essential by the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).
- Actively participating in planning, installation, and acceptance testing of new systems/equipment, including shield testing of MRI rooms (estimated 10 hours per year per site).

2. Remote services such as:
- Providing written or verbal information during quarterly MRI Safety Committee meetings.
- Conducting MRI Implant Safety Reviews documented in the electronic medical record (EMR), including scanning parameter changes for safe scanning of implanted devices.
- Collaborating on written guidance related to MRI safety protocols.

Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2031, spanning five years.

The services will be performed at various VISN 19 sites including:
- Salt Lake VA Health Care System, Salt Lake City, UT
- Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Oklahoma City, OK
- Cheyenne VA Medical Center, Cheyenne, WY
- Grand Junction Veterans Health Care System, Grand Junction, CO
- Montana VA Health Care System, Fort Harrison, MT
