The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR )intends to issue a fixed-price, sole source task order to General Dynamics - Ordnance and Tactical Systems for up to a maximum of five (5) FY16 M61A2 20mm Gun Systems with Options of a maximum of up to thirty (30) FY 17 and a maximum of up to twenty-six (26) FY18 M61A2 20mm Gun Systems for the F/A 18 E/F Program of Record (POR).

This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 USC 2304 (C) (1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." General Dynamics - Ordnance and Tactical Systems is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for this procurement and is the only qualified manufacturer with an active production line to perform this effort in the time required to meet fleet requirements. General Dynamics - Ordnance and Tactical Systems is the only qualified manufacturer possessing the required technical knowledge and facilities, including machining, forging, molds, tooling and special test equipment, to perform the functions required to meet the current and emergent fleet needs.
