The B-52 Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Program is seeking to integrate the AEHF Force Element Terminal (FET) system onto the B-52 Weapon System. This integration will provide the B-52 fleet with a two-way Extremely High Frequency Satellite Communication (SATCOM) link for Emergency Action Messages (EAM) and report-backs to meet Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) nuclear protected Information Exchange Requirements (IER). The AEHF FET will replace the existing B-52 Air Force Satellite Communication (AFSATCOM) AN/ASC-19 SATCOM subsystem. The Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) phase of the program is currently underway, with efforts focused on defining program requirements, conducting trade studies, and developing program plans. The TMRR phase will be followed by the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) and Production and Deployment (P&D) phases.

The scope of work for the TMRR phase includes tasks such as developing program plans, defining program requirements, and conducting trade studies. The objective of this phase is to reduce risks associated with the EMD phase by establishing a solid foundation for the development of the AEHF FET system. The ground rules for the program include using the current B-52 aircraft baseline, utilizing government-furnished equipment (GFE), minimizing integration with other B-52 systems, and ensuring that GFE is fully qualified to meet B-52 environmental requirements. The contractor will be responsible for designing and installing the FET plus radome system on the aircraft, while also meeting all operational requirements.

This opportunity is notable because it aims to enhance the communication capabilities of the B-52 fleet by integrating advanced satellite communication technology. The AEHF FET system will provide a secure and reliable two-way SATCOM link for critical communications in nuclear operations. The TMRR phase is currently ongoing, with efforts focused on reducing risks associated with the development of the AEHF FET system. The integration of this system onto the B-52 Weapon System will enhance the overall capabilities of the aircraft and ensure its readiness for future missions.
