Description

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a key component of the Department of Health and Human Services, is dedicated to safeguarding public health through scientific research, data-driven initiatives, and educational programs. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDC underwent a significant reorganization to enhance its capacity in managing public health crises. This transformation led to the creation of the Coronaviruses and Other Respiratory Viruses Division (CORVD) within the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). The new division emerged from the existing Respiratory Viruses Branch in February 2023, reflecting an increased focus on addressing respiratory viruses beyond COVID-19.

The General Services Administration's Office of Assisted Acquisition Services (AAS) is conducting market research on behalf of CORVD to identify potential contractors capable of supporting its mission. The overarching goal is to consolidate previous labor support services into a single contract that will provide comprehensive programmatic and labor support for CORVD's diverse activities. This initiative aims to streamline operations that were previously managed through multiple contracts with varying performance periods across different program offices.

The work being requested involves providing technical, scientific, laboratory, and public health support services from December 1, 2025, through November 30, 2030. The contractor will be expected to offer expertise in several critical areas including public health policy development, epidemiology and surveillance efforts, program analysis and evaluation processes, as well as administrative operations. Additionally, there will be a strong emphasis on laboratory work and health communications related to respiratory viruses such as adenoviruses, coronaviruses (including novel strains), human metapneumoviruses, RSVs among others.

By consolidating these services under one contract vehicle managed by AAS at GSA eBuy platform; it ensures more efficient use of resources while maintaining flexibility in responding swiftly to emerging public health threats both domestically within United States borders globally where necessary interventions might arise due unforeseen outbreaks or pandemics similar what was experienced during recent years with Covid-19 crisis which highlighted importance preparedness readiness against viral infections impacting communities worldwide.
