Goose Island Weed control

Background
The contract involves the control of invasive weeds on Goose Island in La Crosse and Vernon Counties, Wisconsin. The work will be conducted for a base contract year from 2022-23 plus four option contract years, with final scheduled treatments in 2027. The project area is a large island complex owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers and managed as Goose Island County Park. The objective is to control widespread woody invasives and promote a mosaic of open to closed woodlands with patches of oak savanna and prairie.

Work Details
The work includes a wide range of woody invasive initial control and follow-up treatments across 7 treatment areas encompassing 348.1 acres at Goose Island. The contractor shall use herbicide formulations for control treatments, unless a better performing alternative is identified and approved by the Government. The treatment areas occur in mixed, mature floodplain and oak forest, with scattered pine plantations in some areas. The contractor will be responsible for various treatments such as spot spraying, brush mowing, foliar herbicide application, cut stump, basal bark or foliar herbicide treatment of woody invasives.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over the period from January 1, 2023 to July 15, 2027.

The contract will be performed at Goose Island in La Crosse and Vernon Counties, Wisconsin.
