Description

This Glide Breaker Phase 2 funding opportunity seeks proposals to execute wind tunnel and flight testing to collect data on jet interaction effects between divert and attitude control jets and a hypersonic cross flow at conditions relevant to a future glide-phase interceptor for hypersonic threats. The results of this phase are intended to inform designs and model development to enable acquisition of an interceptor utilizing a divert-and-attitude-control-system-propelled kill vehicle in a future program of record.
Background
The funding opportunity seeks proposals to execute wind tunnel and flight testing to collect data on jet interaction effects between divert and attitude control jets and a hypersonic cross flow at conditions relevant to a future glide-phase interceptor for hypersonic threats. The results of this phase are intended to inform designs and model development to enable acquisition of an interceptor utilizing a divert-and-attitude-control-system-propelled kill vehicle in a future program of record.

Work Details
Phase 2 performer(s) shall execute wind tunnel and flight testing of a Demonstration System (DS) payload to characterize and quantify the effect of jet interaction (JI) on a DACS-propelled kill vehicle. The primary deliverable for Phase 2 is a data set from the wind tunnel and flight tests that enables validation of models and informs future design activities. The DS payload should have features that are traceable to the OS KV concept that allow data gathered on the DS payload to inform future OS KV design and model-development activities.

Place of Performance
The geographic location(s) for the wind tunnel and flight testing are not explicitly mentioned in the provided text.
