INTRODUCTION

On behalf of United States Space Force (USSF) Lieutenant Colonel Darren Ng, Materiel Leader, Space Surveillance and Reconnaissance Branch, you are invited to the RG-XX (R = Reconnaissance, G = Geosynchronous (GEO)) Industry Day.

This Industry Day will provide our industry partners with the Government's plans for the next generation GEO-based space domain awareness (SDA) satellite constellation that will provide reconnaissance and surveillance of resident space objects in and around the GEO-belt. The session will provide information on the general acquisition planning, design reference missions, high level requirements, and plans for the command-and-control (C2) ground system to support the new RG-XX satellites. This Industry Day is focused on the space segment and the acquisition to support the procurement of the RG-XX constellation of satellites. The mission of the RG-XX satellite will require broad industry involvement to ensure we assemble partnerships that have expertise in satellite build and integration, non-Earth imaging electro-optical (EO) payloads, rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO) sensors/algorithms, ranging payloads, and image processing. One-on-one sessions between companies and the Government will be scheduled to follow the one-day Industry Day event. The intended audience includes both prospective prime contractors and subcontractors for the space vehicles/payloads within the RG-XX space segment.

NOTE: Industry Day check-in will begin at 7:30 AM Pacific. The event will begin at 8:30 AM Pacific.

DATES

5 August 2025 (Industry Day)

6-8 & 11-12 August 2025 (one-on-ones, tentative schedule subject to change)

Location

A1 Building Titan Room, Aerospace Corporation, 2310 E. El Segundo Blvd, El Segundo, CA 90245

Background

The RG-XX Program is managed under the USSF's Space System Command (SSC), Space Combat Power Program Executive Office (SSC/SZ), Orbital Warfare Acquisition Delta, and the Space Surveillance and Reconnaissance Branch. The Orbital Warfare Acquisition Delta and the Space Surveillance and Reconnaissance Branch provide space-based SDA capabilities for the USSF, the Combined Force Space Component Commander (CFSCC), and U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM).

The scope for this Industry Day is to discuss the space segment vehicles and the EO payloads performing space-based SDA in GEO. These space vehicles must perform two major mission requirements (highlighted below), which will be further elaborated upon at this Industry Day via Design Reference Missions (DRMs).

Surveillance of resident space objects (RSOs) in GEO. Space vehicles will support both rate and sidereal tracking modes using a wide field of view (WFOV) non-Earth imaging EO sensor in support of discovery and custody missions.

o Rate Tracking: The rate-tracking mode moves the spacecraft/optic to match the motion of the object being observed so the object appears as a single point of light and the background stars appear as streaks. Since all the light from the observed object remains concentrated on one point, this method makes it possible to pick up dimmer objects than might be seen using sidereal tracking.

o Sidereal Tracking: Sidereal tracking moves the satellite/optic to account for its rotation around Earth, so the background stars appear as fixed points of light on the focal plane. RSOs are identified as streaks against the fixed star background. This search method is well-suited for un-cued detection and tracking.

Reconnaissance on RSOs in GEO using a near field of view (NFOV) non-Earth imaging EO sensor

o Space vehicles are expected to collect multi-aspect high resolution exquisite imagery of RSOs at will by conducting various RPOs.

REGISTRATION

Please register via eInvitations at (https://einvitations.afit.edu/inv/anim.cfm?i=1266305&k=0363440F785778) by 1600 PDT, 25 July, 2025

  • We request that only one registration is made per company. Each company may register a maximum of three participants for the 5 August Industry Day. You may include one additional alternate attendee in the event that one of the originally registered members cannot attend.
  • Attendee U.S. Citizenship verification is required. To verify citizenship, the attendee must do one of the following: 1) bring a certified birth certificate, valid U.S. passport, or naturalization certificates to the event or 2) Submit a Visit Access Request (VAR; details to be provided to companies that have been approved to view Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) per guidance below). If the attendee does not provide proof of citizenship, they will not be allowed into the Industry Day Session.
  • Registered companies' Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) codes will be vetted against Department of Defense (DoD) contracts / DD254's to confirm approval to view Controlled Unclassified Information. Companies not approved to view CUI, although they may be registered via eInvitations, will be denied entry to the 5 August Industry Day (and be unable participate in a one-on-one session), regardless of whether its members are U.S. citizens.
  • Companies will be notified via email whether they have been approved to attend RG-XX Industry Day based upon CUI vetting criteria. Company representatives must have their U.S. citizenship verified in addition to this.
  • Upon registration via eInvitations, companies must submit a one (1) page company description sheet using the provided template/instructions by 1000 PDT 27 July, 2025 to ssc.szaz.rg-xxindustry_day@spaceforce.mil via email.
    • Note: Your company description sheet will be provided to all attendees prior to and at Industry Day. The intent is to provide an overview of your company and its core competencies to the participants.

FOOD & BEVERAGE INFORMATION

  • Water and light refreshments will made available throughout the day during the 5 August Industry Day Session.
  • We invite you to remain in the A1 Titan room where lunch will be provided for attendees. For attendees with dietary restrictions, it is recommended you bring your own lunch.

RECOMMENDED ATTIRE

Civilian: Business Casual

ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS

The Government invites companies who have registered (and been approved to attend RG-XX Industry Day) to participate in one-on-one sessions. Each session will be held between the RG-XX Program Office and an individual company to allow for additional Q&A about the RG-XX acquisition. Additional information regarding one-on-ones will be sent to company POCs following registration/approval.

ADDITION INFORMATION WILL FOLLOW

A welcome packet will be delivered via email the week prior to RG-XX Industry Day, containing additional information on parking, on-site/venue logistics, food, companies attending, and more.

CONTACT INFORMATION

For administrative questions or to inform the RG-XX Industry Day team that an alternate POC will attend in place of a registered primary attendee, please contact ssc.szaz.rg-xxindustry_day@spaceforce.mil. Answers to technical questions will be held until Industry Day and the following one-on-one meetings.
