Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Seattle District, requires rehabilitation of the Chief Joseph Generator Rewinds (16 Units) and incidental related work. The following is a list of the major items of work included in this Contract. The work includes the removal of the existing components and systems of components which are known to have lead-based paint, without being specifically identified. The work includes:

Mobilization and demobilization.

Disassemble and reassemble 16 generators, including generator alignment.

Removal of 16 existing stator windings.

Installation of 16 new stator windings, including winding supplies and connections such as circuit rings, surge rings, main and neutral leads, neutral Current Transformer (CTs), wedges, fillers, etc.

Supply and install one stator core in a to be determined unit.

Reuse up to 15 existing stator cores, following cleaning and testing.

Optional replacement of up to 15 stator cores.

Reuse existing field winding and collector rings of all units, following cleaning and testing.

Optional field winding refurbishment on a per pole basis.

Replace generator breaker CTs for all units.

Replacement of all generator raw water piping from the cooling water strainer to the discharge valve, with the exception of the thrust bearing cooling branch, for all units.

Clean, inspect, and reuse the brake system of all units without disassembly.

Redesign and replace the brake ring of all units.

Replace generator brake pads.

Install new Machine Condition Monitoring (MCM) system including shaft vibration, generator air gap, and continuous online partial discharge monitoring devices for all units.

Instrumentation for generator temperature monitoring, Resistance Temperature Detector (RTDs), MCM system design drawings and specifications, interfacing with Generic Data Acquistiion and Control System (GDACS) or evaluating alternative interfaces for all units.

Stator foundation inspection of all units with optional minor repairs.

Replace all generator air coolers.

Optional model validation testing of up to 16 units.

In accordance with FAR 36.204 "Disclosure of the Magnitude of Construction Projects," the magnitude of the project is estimated between $100,000,000 and $250,000,000.
