Description

This specification establishes the requirement for two (2) new Gas Flow Proportional Counter (GFPC) Systems to be acquired and installed at Anniston Army Depot (ANAD), Anniston, AL. The GFPC Systems will be responsible for the nuclear counting of the radioactivity of low energy nuclide (mainly alpha/beta emitting). The Contractor shall configure the equipment to provide ANAD with all functionality, capabilities and features as described herein. The Contractor shall provide all resources necessary to prepare, provide, deliver, install, and train personnel on the functional operation and programing of the equipment that includes travel and anything else necessary for the proper functioning and operation of the equipment system.

Background
The Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) is seeking to acquire and install two new Gas Flow Proportional Counter (GFPC) Systems. These systems are essential for the nuclear counting of radioactivity from low energy nuclides, primarily those that emit alpha and beta radiation. The goal of this contract is to ensure that ANAD has the necessary equipment configured to provide full functionality and capabilities as outlined in the specifications.

Work Details
The contract requires the delivery and installation of two (2) Gas Flow Proportional Counter (GFPC) Systems with the following specifications:
- 2.25 in. DET Gas Flow Proportional Counter with a capability for 50 samples.
- Complete frontal access without the need to lift lead bricks for detector access.
- Integrated touch screen interface and USB communication protocol.
- Coated and bolted lead shield, along with a gasless Anti-Coincidence cosmic Guard detector.
- Performance metrics include gross alpha + beta ≤ 1.0 counts per mille (cpm), Alpha ≤ 0.10 cpm, Beta ≤ 0.75 cpm, and a sample count rate of 500000 cpm with ≤ 1.5% deadtime loss.
- The system must also feature a universal power supply adaptable to voltage and frequency inputs ranging from 100 V to 240 V ac at 50/60 Hz, along with a dual-stage gas regulator and a workstation class computer running Windows 10 or higher.
