GAOA Buck Hall Recreation Phase 1 Renovation

Background
The GAOA Buck Hall Recreation Phase 1 Renovation project is being conducted by the U.S. Forest Service, aimed at improving the Buck Hall Recreation Area located in McClellanville, SC. This area includes a campground, boat landing, and day-use facilities that provide year-round access to various recreational activities.

The site has not undergone significant updates since its reconstruction in 1993 following Hurricane Hugo, necessitating repairs and enhancements to ensure continued usability and safety for visitors.

Work Details
The scope of work includes extensive renovations and improvements across multiple areas:
- Campground: Replacement of site amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, electrical pedestals, and water hydrants. Repaving of parking spurs and campground roads to accommodate larger campers. Refurbishment of the host site for wastewater collection and replacement of the electrical distribution system. Replacement of potable water supply lines and valves, bathhouse, wastewater system, well house building, and installation of new sidewalks.

- Boat Landing: Repaving roads and parking areas with additional boat trailer parking and a new traffic circle. Repairs to boarding docks and boat ramps. Replacement of an aluminum bulkhead with a rock revetment along most of the property.

- Optional items include replacing the day-use area bathhouse and picnic shelter, improvements to the fishing pier, overflow parking lot, storage building, telecommunications system, and a new kayak launch.

Period of Performance
The contract's period of performance is set for 18 months from the Notice to Proceed (NTP) to final acceptance.

Place of Performance
All construction activities will take place at the Buck Hall Recreation Area located at 1099 Buck Hall Landing Road, McClellanville, SC 29458.
