Background
The Galveston District Corps of Engineers is seeking comments from industry regarding the potential use of Project Labor Agreements (PLA) for the upcoming Galveston Entrance Channel and Houston Ship Channel Bolivar to Redfish, Hooper Dredging, Galveston County, Texas. The work consists of dredging the Galveston Entrance Channel, Inner/Outer Bar Channel, Bolivar Roads, Houston Ship Channel, and various options. The project falls under NAICS Code 237990 for Dredging and Surface Cleanup Activities with an anticipated magnitude of $25,000,000.00 – $100,000,000.00.

Work Details
The work consists of dredging the Galveston Entrance Channel (approximately 564,000 Cubic Yards), Inner/Outer Bar Channel and Bolivar Roads (approximately 237 Cubic Yards), Houston Ship Channel from Bolivar roads to Redfish Reef (approximately 801,000 Cubic Yards), as well as several options including dredging the Galveston Extended Entrance Channel (approximately 259,000 Cubic Yards), Texas City Ship Channel (approximately 335,000 Cubic Yards), Galveston Harbor Channel (approximately 555,000 Cubic Yards), and Beach Placement at Galveston Island (approximately 579,000 Cubic Yards). Additionally, there are two options related to sea turtle trawling. The project is primarily an Initiation for Bids (IFB) and falls under DFARS 36.
