Description

This is a sources sought announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified potential offerors. No formal solicitation document exists at this time. The Government is not obligated to, nor will it, pay for or reimburse any costs associated with responding to this sources sought synopsis request. This notice shall not be construed as commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular acquisition approach. The Government will in no way be bound to this information if any solicitation is issued. The purpose of this notice is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification: Service Disabled/Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB/VOSB), small, and large relative to NAICS 812210, Funeral Homes and Funeral Services. Responses to this notice will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After review of the responses to this sources sought a solicitation announcement may be published on GSA eBUY or Contract Opportunities website. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered adequate responses to the solicitation announcement. All interested offerors must respond to the solicitation announcement in addition to responding to this sources sought announcement. The Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), is seeking potential sources capable of providing Funeral Services within the Central Virginia Area. Responses to this sources sought notice should include the following: name and address of company, business size (large or small): Please identify your companies socioeconomic categories- 8(a), HUBZone, Services Disabled Veteran-Owned/Veteran-Owned Small Business, other small, or small. If you are an SDVOSB, VOSB or small business and plan on subcontracting, please provide a plan to show how your company will provide 50% of the work being performed. Also, provide a brief description of qualifications and any other pertinent information which demonstrates the ability to meet the above requirement. Background
The Richmond Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is seeking potential sources capable of providing Funeral Services within the Central Virginia Area. This sources sought announcement aims to conduct market research and gather information from qualified potential offerors, including Service Disabled/Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB/VOSB), small, and large businesses. The goal of the contract is to provide mortuary services for unclaimed remains of deceased Veterans from the Department of Veterans Affairs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local health laws.

Work Details
The Contractor shall provide facilities, professional services, management, labor, tools, supplies, equipment, and transportation necessary for handling unclaimed remains of deceased Veterans. Key tasks include:

1. Providing professional services to assure viewing of remains under optimal conditions;
2. Practicing hygienic measures for disinfection and sanitation;
3. Employing a sufficient number of licensed embalmers;
4. Ensuring transport vehicles and procedures meet industry standards;
5. Responding to notifications for removal of unclaimed remains within specified timeframes;
6. Preparing remains for interment including embalming and dressing;
7. Complying with VA requirements and specifications throughout the process;
8. Delivering remains to designated Virginia Veterans Cemeteries as part of the service.

Period of Performance
Base Year plus two (2) option years.

Central Virginia Healthcare System.
