The National Park Service (NPS), Blue Ridge Parkway, will be contracting to perform cleaning sewer lines and manholes prior to the internal television inspection(s) for new or existing wastewater systems of the Peaks of Otter (Peaks) Sewer Main. Peaks of Otter Campground is located in Bedford County, Virginia.
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Firm Fixed Price
100% small business set-aside procurement.
The NAICS code is 562991 Septic Tan and Related Services Contractors and the size standard is $9 million.
The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price commercial contract based on the quote that represents the best value to the Government in accordance with FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items, and FAR Part 19, Small Business Programs.

Background
The National Park Service (NPS), specifically the Blue Ridge Parkway, is issuing a contract for cleaning sewer lines and manholes prior to internal television inspections of the wastewater systems at the Peaks of Otter Campground, located in Bedford County, Virginia.

This initiative aims to address issues related to leaks and groundwater intrusion in a sewer system that has been in place for over 30 years. The goal is to establish a regular maintenance program to restore functionality and mitigate deterioration of the sewer infrastructure.

Work Details
The contract involves cyclic cleaning and CCTV inspection of the Peaks of Otter sewer mainlines, manholes, and service laterals. The work includes:
- Cleaning duct iron, PVC, and vitrified clay sewer lines as well as associated manholes and cleanouts.
- Removal of sediment buildup from mainlines, laterals, service connections, and cleanouts.
- Identification of any breakage in piping or infiltration of tree roots that could cause blockages.
- Treatment of vegetation root systems causing premature failure of sewer pipes.
- All sites must be left cleared and sanitized of debris with any damaged landscape restored at no cost to the government. The project will not include repair work; any necessary repairs due to negligence by the cleaning contractor will be their responsibility.
