FY24 Baltimore Harbor and Channels Maintenance Dredging, York Spit Channel, Chesapeake Bay, MD   3

Background
The project is initiated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and focuses on maintenance dredging of the deep-draft federal navigation channel serving the Port of Baltimore.

The goal of the contract is to ensure navigability and safety in commercial waterways, which are critical for trade and transportation in the region.

Work Details
The work involves maintenance dredging approximately 2,500,000 cubic yards (cy) from the York Spit Federal Navigation Channel to a required depth of 50 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) with an allowable overdepth of two feet.

The dredging will be executed using a hopper dredge, with all dredged material transported to a designated Government-furnished placement area at Wolf Trap Alternative Placement Site Northern Extension quadrant 1 of cell NE-6.

The estimated construction magnitude is between $25 million and $100 million, and large hopper dredges are necessary for removing and hauling the dredged material from the channel to the placement site.

Period of Performance
The contract work is scheduled to be performed between November 2024 and March 2025, with an approximate duration of 150 calendar days from receipt of Notice-to-Proceed.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will take place within heavy commercial waterways supporting the Port of Baltimore, specifically in the Chesapeake Bay area.
