The 48th Forces Support Squadron (48 FSS) has a requirement for a HSM VK 5012 Fully Automated Baling Press, or other brand equivalent to be supplied and installed at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. The Horizontal Bailer with a Lift to load double Wheeled Bins on one end and ton bales automatically wrapped in wire for the end product. We complete roughly 30 to 50 tons per month.

Background
The 48th Forces Support Squadron (48 FSS) has a requirement for a HSM VK 5012 Fully Automated Baling Press, or other brand equivalent to be supplied and installed at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. The mission of servicing RAF Lakenheath and RAF Feltwell with collecting recycling bins for cardboard, paper, plastic, and aluminum cans. The current baler is over 20 years old and coming to the end of its life span, incurring increasing costs for maintenance and breakdown cover. A new fully automatic baling press working in conjunction with a conveyor and bin lifting/tipping device is needed to replace the old baling system. The contractor must establish clear organizational lines of authority and responsibility to ensure effective management of resources assigned to the requirement.

Work Details
The specific products to be manufactured or delivered under the contract include a HSM VK 5012 Fully Automated Baling Press or other brand equivalent that meets certain criteria such as being fully automatic, electro-hydraulic channel baling press complete with conjunction conveyors, 1100 liter bin lifting/tipping device with safety cage, wire tying system, designed to create maximum density bales, controlled via a specially adapted control panel programmed by electrical program engineers, and meeting certain specifications such as throughput of 89 M³/H or approx. 2.6 TPH, main driving power of 15Kw, pump capacity of 102 Liters/Min, tank capacity of 300 Liters, loading opening of (W X L) 1020mm X 1250mm, bale/channel cross section of (w x h) 1100mm x 750mm, adjustable bale length at four stages from 600mm-1200mm, and bale weight varying between approx. 380 – 500 kg. The installation requirements include removal and breakdown of the old baler and baling wire, delivery and installation coordination prior with POCs provided at time of award at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom.
