Background
The Indian Health Service (IHS) is an agency within the US Dept of Health and Human Services, responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaska Natives. The IHS goal is to assure that accessible health care services are available to the American Indian and Alaska Natives. The Lawton Indian Hospital serves 10 counties in Southwestern Oklahoma and administers health care to 7 tribes with a 1 hospital facility, and 2 outpatient/outreach programs. There is a need to supplement and augment the laboratory when services are not available within the Lawton Service Unit.

Work Details
The Contractor shall provide reference laboratory testing services for the Lawton Service Unit locations including: Lawton Indian Hospital, Anadarko Indian Health Center, Carnegie Indian Health Center. The relative number of specimens submitted by each facility is variable and dependent upon the need of each facility. Duties encompass reference laboratory testing services to include testing, and reporting. The standards of medical practice and duties of the Contractor through its physicians shall be determined pursuant to Governing Body bylaws, medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations of the appropriated HIS hospital and health center, applicable provisions of law including but not limited to Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) compliance, rules and regulations of any and all governmental authorities relating to licensure and regulation of physicians and hospitals, and standards and recommendations of The Joint Commission (TJC) or other CMS deemed accrediting agencies.
