Description

This is a Sources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) notice for One (1) Field-Flow Fractionation Multi-Angle Light Scattering (FFF-MALS) with SEC System.

See notice details in the attached document.

Background
The National Forensic Chemistry Center (NFCC) in the Office of the Chief Scientist, Office of Specialty Laboratories & Enforcement Support, requires the purchase of one (1) Field-flow fractionation Multi-Angle Light Scattering (FFF-MALS) system.

This system will aid in characterizing molecules to determine molecular mass, hydrodynamic radius, polydispersity, and concentration, which are critical for analyzing forensic and regulatory samples. The NFCC supports various FDA offices in analyzing potentially harmful foods, drugs, and medical products. The acquisition of this system will enhance NFCC's capabilities to analyze large molecule therapeutics and biologics, thereby improving public health protection.

Work Details
The contract requires the vendor to supply one (1) Field-flow fractionation Multi-Angle Light Scattering (FFF-MALS) System with Size Exclusion Chromatography Multi-Angle Light Scattering/Refractive Index (SEC/MALS/RI) and variable wavelength Ultraviolet detection capability.

Minimum product requirements include:
- Flow rate support of at least 5 mL/min with cross flow regulation from 0.03-5 mL/min.
- Compatibility with aqueous and organic solvents.
- Temperature regulation for FFF channels.
- UV Detector: Variable wavelength (190-700 nm), dual wavelength capability, noise level ≤5 µAU.
- Refractive Index Detector: Dynamic range of at least 12,000,000:1.
- MALS Detector: At least 18 unique measurement angles; molar mass range from 200 Da to 1 GDa; molecular size range from 10 nm to 500 nm; sensitivity for quantifying molar mass with accuracy of 5% and precision of 2% or better.
- Liquid chromatography system with high pressure mixing pump(s), flow rate range of 0.001-5 mL/min, pressure up to 400 bar, and temperature-controlled components.
