FA301024R0008 Replace AHUs & VAVs in NPS Dorms Ph1   3

Background
The project is being issued by the Keesler Air Force Base (KAFB) in Biloxi, Mississippi, with the goal of replacing air handler units (AHUs), make up air units (MAUs), and variable air volume (VAVs) in dormitory buildings.

The magnitude of the proposed construction is estimated between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. This acquisition is designated as a HUBZone set-aside.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
1. **Demolition**: Prior to any removal or demolition work, a site survey must be conducted to assess existing conditions. The contractor will remove and dispose of AHUs, MAUs, VAVs, and existing chilled water supply and return piping back to the nearest isolation valve. Precautions must be taken to avoid damage to historic items that are to remain in place.

2. **New Work**: The contractor is responsible for ensuring professional quality and technical accuracy in all services provided. The project design must meet criteria outlined in UFC 3-401-01 and consider mechanical compatibility with the local environment, energy conservation, and life cycle costs. Specific requirements include:
- Adding ball valves to vertical risers from mains extending into attic spaces.
- Ensuring all systems affected by the work are fully functional upon completion.
- Compliance with various UFC standards related to mechanical engineering and fire protection.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will take place at Buildings 6950 (Conner Manor) and 7404 (Winters Manor) located at Keesler Air Force Base (KAFB), Biloxi, Mississippi.
