R7 Cherokee County Superfund Site OU#4 Treece Subsite Cherokee County, Kansas.
Background
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 (EPA Region 7) intends to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a non-residential, site-specific contract for remedial actions related to mine waste at the Cherokee County Superfund Site, specifically Operable Unit 4 (OU4) in Cherokee County, Kansas.

The goal of this contract is to address contamination from heavy metals in the area.

Work Details
The selected remedy for OU4 includes the following primary activities: excavation, consolidation, and disposal of mine waste and associated soil/sediments that are contaminated with heavy metals.

Additional tasks involve property restoration and revegetation efforts to rehabilitate the affected areas. The DRAFT Performance Work Statement provides further details on these tasks but is for informational purposes only; the final Performance Work Statement will be issued with the solicitation.
