R10 DES: Ballard and Henry Mines RD and FS Technical Support

Background
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 10, is overseeing the Remedial Design at the Ballard Mine Site and the Feasibility Study at the Henry Mine Site under the Remedial Action Framework (RAF), Design and Engineering Service (DES). The mines are located in southeast Idaho and are owned by P4 Production, LLC, a subsidiary of Monsanto, now Bayer.

Work Details
The contractor, CH2M Hill, Inc., shall provide oversight of the Remedial Design (RD) at Ballard Mine and the Feasibility Study (FS) at Henry Mine. Tasks include technical support for document preparation and analysis to assist EPA in overseeing Principal Responsible Party (PRP) activities. The RD involves ensuring compliance with EPA guidance and the Record of Decision (ROD) for Ballard Mine, which contains harmful waste rock elements such as selenium and arsenic.

The FS at Henry Mine requires similar oversight due to its characteristics and proximity to Ballard Mine.

Period of Performance
The task order will cover ongoing work with design milestones scheduled for 2022 and 2025.
