Background
The USDA Forest Service, Bass Lake Ranger District, is issuing a contract for site preparation and fuels reduction in the Sierra National Forest, Madera County, California. The goal is to manage forestry resources by reducing fire hazards through mechanical and manual removal of debris.

Work Details
The project involves piling existing down fuels such as logs, brush, and slash. It also includes cutting and piling dead and dying standing conifer trees using mechanical feller bunchers or excavators and hand chainsaw felling for larger diameter trees. The treatment area includes forest affected by the Creek Fire in 2020, with accumulated woody debris. The work spans approximately 350 acres between elevations of 4,800 and 5,800 feet.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed from September 30, 2024, to September 30, 2025. Specific tasks include completing Unit 1 (160 acres) by November 22, 2024, and Unit 2 (190 acres) by September 30, 2025.
