Description

Exclusive Use Smokejumper Flight Services for BLM - Boise, Idaho
Background
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), part of the Department of Interior (DOI), is seeking contractor-operated and maintained aircraft for exclusive use smokejumper support. This contract aims to enhance wildfire suppression efforts through the provision of specialized aerial services, including the transportation and dropping of smokejumpers and paracargo, reconnaissance missions, and other related activities. The goal is to ensure effective fire management and resource protection in line with BLM's mission.

Work Details
The contractor will provide high wing turbine-powered multiengine land airplanes equipped for smokejumper operations. Key tasks include transporting and dropping smokejumpers, paracargo, conducting reconnaissance, testing parachutes, and supporting fire suppression activities. The aircraft must meet specific requirements such as having a Standard Airworthiness Certificate, being certified under Civil Air Regulation Part 3 or 14 CFR 23 or 25, and being capable of operating from a 3,000-foot gravel runway.

The crew must include a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) and relief PIC. Each aircraft should have a payload capacity of 3,400 pounds with fuel reserves and seating for at least eight smokejumpers. The contract includes provisions for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure airworthiness in compliance with FAA regulations.
