Description

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is sponsoring a Proposers Day to provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of an anticipated Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for the Enhancing Quantum Sensor Technologies with Rydberg Atoms (EQSTRA) program. The event will be held via webcast on June 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). Advance registration is required to attend the webcast. All times listed in this announcement and on the registration website are Eastern Time.
Background
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is sponsoring a Proposers Day to provide information to potential proposers on the objectives of an anticipated Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for the Enhancing Quantum Sensor Technologies with Rydberg Atoms (EQSTRA) program. The event will be held via webcast on June 3, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). The goals of the EQSTRA Proposers Day are to introduce the research community to the EQSTRA program vision and goals, explain the mechanics of a DARPA program and the milestones of this particular effort, and encourage teaming arrangements among potential organizations with the relevant expertise, facilities, and capabilities for executing a research and development program responsive to the EQSTRA program goals.

Work Details
The EQSTRA program aims to advance the performance, capabilities, and application landscape of Rydberg-vapor technologies for quantum-enhanced electrometry, imaging, communications, and other applications to Quantum Information Science (QIS). The solicitation seeks to advance the technological maturity and application landscape of Rydberg vapor-based devices by extending the capabilities of Rydberg-based technologies into the terahertz domain, reducing the SWaP metrics of integrated Rydberg-based atomic receivers, developing wafer-scale atomic vapor cells with requisite homogeneity, manufacturability, and optical quality, and establishing a foundation of analyses, feasibility studies, and proof-of-concept application studies of disruptive opportunities engendered by Rydberg-based vapor technologies for Department of Defense-relevant applications including quantum-enhanced sensing, imaging, and communications.

Period of Performance
The event will be held via webcast on June 3, 2024.

Place of Performance
The event will be held via webcast.
