Enterprise Food Service Operations

Background
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking information from qualified vendors capable of providing enterprise-wide food service operations across all Bureau of Prisons-managed institutions nationwide. The BOP operates approximately 122 institutions, supporting an estimated population of 140,000 inmates and a workforce of approximately 33,000 employees.

The goal is to ensure efficient food service operations that can handle approximately 420,000 meals per day.

Work Details
The Contractor shall be responsible for enterprise-wide food service operations, including procurement, purchasing, inventory management, logistics, and overall program management. Key tasks include:

- Execution of a standardized national menu cycle with defined portion sizes;
- High-volume meal production and service;
- Ensuring food safety and compliance;
- Providing training support and coordination with Government staff;
- Utilizing inmate labor for cooking and food preparation under Government supervision;
- Maintaining operational efficiency.

The contractor must also meet institutional access and background investigation requirements. Staff dining is optional at locations with established Officers’ Mess facilities.

Place of Performance
Food service operations will be conducted at various Bureau of Prisons-managed institutions across the United States.
