Description

Durable Medical Equipment

Background
The contract is issued by the Alexandria Veterans Health Care System (AVAHCS) to provide Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Home Medical Equipment (HME) services. The goal of the contract is to ensure that Veterans receive timely and effective medical equipment and services necessary for their care, in compliance with standards established by The Joint Commission.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide durable medical equipment and/or accessories based on assessments and prescriptions from VAMC health care providers. Services include:
1. Delivery, setup, pick-up, repair, cleaning, and storage of DME/HME.
2. Emergency setup and management of DME/HME services 24/7 within four hours of order receipt.
3. Routine delivery/setup/pick-up within 48 hours of receipt of purchase order.
4. Maintenance, refurbishing, and repair services in accordance with manufacturer instructions by qualified personnel.
5. Minor repairs at the Veteran's residence when possible; emergency repairs may occur outside normal business hours but must restore serviceability.
6. Detailed record-keeping for each Veteran regarding all items delivered or picked up, including make, model, serial number, and modifications.
7. Notification requirements for any citations or accreditation issues during the contract period.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed in the counties/parishes serviced by AVAHCS and its affiliated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), including locations in Louisiana such as Pineville, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Leesville, Jennings, Natchitoches, as well as bordering areas in Texas.
