Dredging Industry Day Notice

Background
The New York District is planning on issuing an Invitation for Bid for emergency dredging work required for hydraulic beach fill placement between Seaview and Davis Park on Fire Island, New York. A Dredging Industry Day discussion regarding this upcoming project will be held on Wednesday March 27, 2024 at 2pm EST. We anticipate issuing the solicitation in May 2024. Work Details
The recommended work is Scenario 2, Full Buildout, which includes repair of the project to the original design and advance fill template with approximately 1.7 million cubic yards of sand. Scenario 2 also includes replacement of approximately 35,202 ft of sand fencing, planting of approximately 31 acres of dune grass, repair of approximately 6-10 elevated timber dune crossover structures, and repair of approximately two vehicular crossovers. The sand will be dredged from the Atlantic Ocean Sand Borrow Area 2C that already has an existing permit in place, although the permit will be expiring on August 15, 2024. The critically needed beachfill will restore the eroded beach that spans a distance of 44,150 ft spanning between the communities of Ocean Bay Park to Davis Park in Suffolk County, NY. The beachfill includes a beach berm at elevation +8.5 ft NAVD88, backed by a dune with a height of +14ft NAVD88.
