DOI - BLM - Terrestrial AIM Data Collection - MRAS

The Department of the Interior (DOI), through the General Services Administration (GSA), is conducting market research to support the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) efforts in New Mexico. The primary objective is to collect Terrestrial Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (AIM) data. This initiative aims to evaluate the effectiveness of resource management decisions, assess treatment outcomes, and conduct habitat evaluations. The project aligns with BLM's approved monitoring strategies for land health assessment.

The scope of work involves collecting AIM data at 250 designated points during the 2027 field season, with a possibility for four additional 12-month option periods from 2028 to 2031. Each option period will maintain a consistent workload of 250 points per year across various field offices in New Mexico. These offices include Carlsbad, Farmington, Las Cruces District, Rio Puerco, Roswell, Socorro, and Taos Field Offices.

Data collection will adhere to protocols outlined in the Monitoring Manual for Grassland, Shrubland, and Savanna Ecosystems. The collection process will occur between May and November each year. Crews should be prepared for remote work conditions where cellular connectivity may be limited or unavailable; this may involve camping in primitive settings over multiple days to maximize efficiency.

Field crews will undergo comprehensive training and calibration sessions before beginning data collection activities. The project timeline includes preparatory meetings starting in January each year and concludes with final data submissions by December 7th annually. The contractor will oversee all phases of data collection while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
