The A-10 Fatigue and Failure Analysis (FFA) Program is seeking engineering failure analysis and testing engineering services for the A-10 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP). The purpose of this effort is to address fleet deficiencies and unanticipated issues that arise in the aging A-10 fleet. The work includes strain surveys, failure evaluation, materials evaluation, fatigue testing, and component testing. The contractor will collaborate with the A-10 ASIP, Analysis and Structures teams, as well as the Hill Air Force Base (HAFB) maintenance community and materials lab. The period of performance for this contract is not specified, but the contractor will be required to provide monthly status reports and attend regular program status reviews.

The place of performance for this contract is not specified, but the contractor is not required to have access to a lab in the immediate vicinity of Hill AFB. However, having a local liaison with technical competence in test and evaluation processes is highly desired. The contractor must have a thorough understanding of aerospace structural analysis, fatigue tests, failure analysis, and testing experience. They must also have access to a lab capable of performing various tests such as strain surveys, fatigue testing, corrosion testing, and metallurgical evaluations.

One notable aspect of this opportunity is that the government will provide government furnished equipment, materials, property, and software to support the testing and evaluation activities. The contractor will be responsible for documenting the condition of these items upon receipt and returning them to the government at the end of the contract. Additionally, security requirements must be followed by the contractor, including obtaining base or area badges for access to government facilities and complying with all applicable DOD security regulations.

Overall, this opportunity provides a comprehensive range of engineering services to address fleet deficiencies in the A-10 aircraft. The contractor will work closely with government personnel to conduct various tests and evaluations to ensure operational safety and mitigate risks associated with aging aircraft structures.
