DOC NIST - Site-Wide Painting Project - MRAS

The Department of Commerce (DOC), through the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is seeking to undertake a comprehensive site-wide painting project at its research and development campus located in Boulder, Colorado. The project is facilitated by the General Services Administration (GSA) as part of their ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance federal facilities. The goal of this initiative is to ensure that all street lines, parking spaces, handicap areas, loading docks, and fire lanes are clearly marked and comply with current safety standards.

This painting project encompasses several specific tasks that involve repainting existing infrastructure using methyl-methacrylate (MMA) paint for durability and visibility. Key tasks include repainting double yellow lane lines across 6900 feet starting from the NIST property line on Rayleigh Road, ensuring all markings meet federal ADA standards for handicap-accessible spaces by updating 45 parking spots along with adjacent load/unload zones, and refreshing stop lines at six locations around the campus. Additionally, 681 regular parking spaces and three motorcycle spaces will be repainted to maintain clarity for users.

Further work involves repainting red fire lane curbing over an estimated length of 1300 feet, ensuring these critical safety paths are easily identifiable during emergencies. Cargo loading areas will also be updated with yellow and black diagonal striping covering approximately 500 square feet. Lastly, yellow curbing areas totaling another 1300 feet as well as stair tread noses and risers extending over 500 feet will be repainted to maintain uniformity across the campus.

The contractor chosen for this project must coordinate closely with the Government Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) throughout the duration of the task order to ensure compliance with all specifications outlined in attached engineered drawings. The project is expected to be completed within two months from the Notice to Proceed (NTP), underlining a commitment to efficiently enhancing facility maintenance while adhering strictly to NIST's operational guidelines.
