This RFI is from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Digital Capabilities Directorate (DCD) located at Building 676, 2435 5th Street, WPAFB, Ohio 45433.

1.0 Background

The AFRL Digital Capabilities Directorate stood up in February 2023 with a mission to Measurably accelerate the generation and transition of adoption-ready technology with demonstrable military benefit . Over-arching goals on behalf of the AFRL include:

  • Faster Research: accelerate research, experimentation, and innovation
  • Better Decisions: data/informatics, visualization, and support for analytically rigorous technical, business, and operations decisions
  • Streamline Transitions: smooth entry for concepts, experiments, and demonstrations, seamless transfer of research products to acquisition/development agencies
  • Reduce Toil: flexible and responsive business and operations
  • Delivery of Digital and IT solutions

Background
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Digital Capabilities Directorate (DCD) was established in February 2023 with a mission to accelerate the generation and transition of adoption-ready technology with demonstrable military benefit. The overarching goals include accelerating research, experimentation, and innovation, supporting analytically rigorous technical, business, and operations decisions, streamlining transitions for concepts and demonstrations, reducing toil in business and operations, and delivering digital and IT solutions. The innovation areas shaping their lines of effort and future investments include data, modeling/analysis, collaborative tools, cybersecurity, digital architecture and services, generative and predictive artificial intelligence, and infrastructure such as networks, optimized clouds, high-performance computing, and quantum technologies.

Work Details
The AFRL Digital Capabilities Directorate is seeking support for digital/IT collaboration, opportunities, research, and experimentation (CORE). The Directorate aims to explore options for streamlining their ability to respond to the rapidly changing landscape of digital ecosystems and the research mission.
