Medical Devices Equipment/Systems (MDE/S) consist of devices used in the medical diagnosis, therapy, and treatment of injury or disease including dental, aeromedical evacuation, Home Station Medical Response, and veterinary items. MDE/S extends to commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment and device systems approved by the Food and Drug Administration used primarily in Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) to provide patient care. Lastly, MDE/S also refers to maintenance of significant instruments, apparatus, implements, machine, contrivance, implants, in vitro reagent, or other similar or related articles, including a component part or accessory; and, software directly connected to the MDE/S that when inoperative or outdated diminishes the MDE/S to a low level or inoperative condition. The latter are also considered a component or part, equally qualifying for repair maintenance support under this Performance Work Statement (PWS). The MDE/S are:-intended for use in the diagnosis of disease symptomatology, related conditions, cure, and mitigation treatment, disease prevention programs with its associated modalities, directed at providing medical health services for military service members, and beneficiaries at inclusive Army, Air Force, and Navy sites. The MDE/S to be service also extends to participating military veterinary clinics under DHA.- intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or other animals, and which does not achieve any of its primary intended purposes through chemical action within or on the body of man or other animals and which is not dependent upon being metabolized for the achievement of any of its primary intended purposes.
