Background
The solicitation is issued by the Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois, for the Design-Bid-Build project focused on the repair and replacement of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Clearwell. The WTP at Naval Station Great Lakes provides over 9,000,000 gallons of drinking water per day. The goal of this contract is to ensure the facility continues to operate efficiently while upgrading its infrastructure.

Work Details
The work includes:
- Abating hazardous materials;
- Demolishing process piping systems, pumping units, buried piping systems, pavements, and miscellaneous items;
- Providing two nominal 375,000-gallon wire- or strand-wound pre-stressed concrete finished water storage tanks (clearwells);
- Constructing a 3,400 square foot pump station building with a 500 square foot breezeway connecting it to the existing filter building;
- Installing four transfer pumping units and two filter backwash pumping units with variable frequency drives;
- Providing chlorine analyzers and solution piping systems;
- Installing exposed and buried process piping systems;
- Implementing building mechanical fire protection, electrical and telecommunication systems for the pump station;
- Automating transfer pumping processes for clearwell filling;
- Constructing a weir chamber for filter effluent;
- Performing site work including grading, paving, fencing, and restoration;
- Flushing and disinfecting potable water pipelines and structures;
- Conducting bacteriological sampling and analyses;
- Ensuring tie-ins to existing water treatment processes without interrupting drinking water production during construction; and
- Completing incidental related work. Additionally, there is an option for replacing Valve 596 as specified in Line Item 0002.
