53 WEG Subscale Drone Facility

This project consists of the design and construction of a Pilotless Aircraft Shop, 50,870 SF = 4,726 SM; ECM Pod Shop and Storage, 38,763 SF = 3,603 SM;

Test Cell, 4,200 SF = 390 SM; Chute Shop, 23,463 SF = 2,180 SM; and a Wash Rack, 2,588 SF = 240 SM.

The Subscale Drone facility is a complex with pilotless aircraft shops, chute shop, aircrew flight equipment shop, Engine Test Cell, ECM Pod Shops and storage, and Wash Rack. The WEG maintains the personnel parachutes for the T38 crew, the F-16 drogue chutes, and the subscale chutes and therefore requires a chute tower and equipment shop to accomplish this mission. The pilotless AC Hangar will provide space for the maintenance and protection of drones. The Pod Shop is for the advanced threat replication mission and should include specialized classified and unclassified laboratories and support space. The project includes all utilities, site improvements, pavements, detection/protection features, security enhancements and other supporting work.

Privatized utility connection fees are included in their respective supporting facilities line items for electrical Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative (GCEC), water GCEC, and gas Peoples Gas Systems (PGS).
