Demographic and Health Surveys-8 (DHS-8)   2

Background
The purpose of the DHS-8 contract is to improve the collection, analysis, and dissemination of population, health, and nutrition data and to facilitate use of these data for planning, policy-making, and program management. The contract will continue to be USAID's primary implementation mechanism for demographic and health data collection. The history of the DHS program and its role in providing reliable and timely health data is highlighted. It is emphasized that the contract activities must center on achieving specific results while aligning with guiding principles such as fostering host country ownership, strengthening South-to-South technical exchange, and maintaining objectivity and independence.

Work Details
The contractor will furnish all personnel, materials, equipment, supplies, services, and perform all activities necessary for the performance of objectives described in Section C, F, and J. The contract will involve improving tools, methods, partnerships, and technical guidance to collect quality population, health, and nutrition data; increasing in-country individual and institutional capacity for identification of data needs; improving availability of survey data; advanced analysis and synthesis of survey data; improved facilitation of survey data use among stakeholders worldwide. The contract also includes a focus on biomarkers, electronic data collection tools to enhance data quality monitoring and reporting.

Period of Performance
The contract is anticipated to be a five-year Cost-Plus-Award Fee (CPAF) contract.
