Background
The Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna, is seeking to ensure that all fire extinguishers meet the required standards for safety and functionality as outlined in DLAM 6055.06 Volume 1, Enclosure 8, Subpart 2.e.

This contract aims to maintain a state of readiness for fire extinguishers, which are critical for occupant safety and serve as the first line of defense in the event of a fire. Compliance with NFPA 10 - Standard for Portable Fire Extinguishers is essential for this mission.

Work Details
The contractor will perform inspection, testing, and maintenance on approximately 1,360 fire extinguishers located at Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna. This includes:
- 1,300 units of 10-pound ABC dry powder extinguishers
- 15 units of 20-pound ABC dry powder extinguishers
- Specialty extinguishers including:
- Water mist (15 units)
- Class K (15 units)
- Purple K (15 units)

The term 'test' refers to a 12-year hydrostatic test. The contractor will conduct monthly onsite visits where the Fire Department will provide 150 fire extinguishers to a central location for servicing. The contractor is responsible for inspecting, testing, and completing all necessary repairs to ensure compliance with NFPA 10. If any unit fails the testing process, the Fire Department will handle its replacement. Specialty extinguishers may require additional testing that could necessitate sending them out for service. Upon passing inspection, each unit will be stamped and tagged with a service verification collar as per NFPA 10 requirements.
