RFI - Virtual Emergent and Urgent Care Network (VA-26-00045329)

Background
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking information for the development of a Virtual Emergent and Urgent Care Network. This initiative aims to create a next-generation national virtual care model that can assist up to 4 million Veterans each year who are seeking acute, unscheduled, urgent, or emergent care.

The goal is to determine which Veterans can be managed effectively in a virtual setting versus those requiring in-person care, thereby expanding healthcare access for Veterans located far from facilities or those preferring home care. This model also aims to reduce unnecessary in-person emergency visits, alleviating emergency room congestion and associated healthcare costs.

Work Details
The RFI outlines the need for a comprehensive solution that encompasses the entire Veteran journey from initial contact with the VA through intake, triage, virtual treatment, and potential diversion to in-person care. Key components include:
- capturing patient history;
- conducting virtual exams;
- performing medical assessments by credentialed providers;
- charting;
- imaging;
- laboratory order placement;
- prescription placement;
- discharge processes.

The VA is open to modular and phased approaches to development and implementation, welcoming submissions from vendors who can meet most requirements with a clear roadmap towards delivering a complete solution.
