Crowns, Service and Dress Cap

Background
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is preparing a draft specification for Crowns, Service and Dress Cap (MIL-DTL-18186F). This specification aims to accommodate various design solutions and processes while encouraging a broad vendor base.

The document serves as an invitation for industry feedback during the review period, which ends on 02/23/25. This draft has not been approved and is subject to modification.

Work Details
The contract involves the production of removable service and dress cap crowns classified into two types:

1. **Type I**: Microdenier polyester, twill, laminated, white (shade 2414).
2. **Type III**: Polyester/wool gabardine, laminated, green (shade 2212).

**Sizes Available**:
- 6, 6-1/8, 6-1/4, 6-3/8, 6-1/2, 6-5/8, 6-3/4, 6-7/8,
- 7, 7-1/8, 7-1/4, 7-3/8, 7-1/2, 7-5/8, 7-3/4.

**Material Requirements for Type I Basic Cloth**:
- Weight: 6 – 7 ounces/square yard
- Fiber Identification: 100% polyester
- Denier: ≤1
- Weave: 2/2 right hand twill

**Performance Requirements**:
- Breaking strength (warp): minimum of 160 pounds
- Elmendorf tear (warp): minimum of 4.0 pounds
- Colorfastness ratings for laundering and light exposure must be at least a rating of 4.0.

**Construction Details**:
The crowns must fit snugly without distorting the headband or crown wire. They should be free from defects affecting usage or durability.

The products will be delivered to locations as specified by the Marine Corps Systems Command.
