Required work includes new work dredging by mechanical or bucket plant at the southeastern cell of the CIEE. The southeastern cell main dike footprint is being deepened to a required depth of -41 feet mean lower low water (MLLW). Also, the central and southern access channel footprints are being deepened to a required depth of -25 feet MLLW. Two feet of allowable over depth dredging will be part of the contract dredging pay prism for both the main dike and access channel footprints. A main dike footprint not to exceed depth of -46 feet MLLW will be observed for this project. A central and southern access channel footprints not to exceed depth of -30 feet MLLW will be observed for this project. Material removed from the dike footprint will be received by ocean-going scows and placed at the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS). The scope requires a 3-year US Environmental Protection Agency USEPA Section 103 concurrence, and the estimated volume to be placed at NODS is 3-million cubic yards.The Contractor shall be responsible for the following: dredging within the designated areas to the proposed and allowable pay depths, placing the removed material in ocean-going barges, transporting the ocean-going barges with the collected material to NODS, depositing the collected material at NODS, and communicating with the Port of Virginia maritime users to minimize impacts to vessel traffic and other dredging operations.

Background
The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is seeking eligible firms capable of performing new work dredging at the southeastern cell of the Craney Island Dredge Material Management Area (CIDMMA) as part of the Craney Island Eastward Expansion (CIEE) Pre-Dredging Phase 1C project.

The goal of this contract is to deepen various dike and channel footprints to specified depths, facilitating improved navigation and environmental management in the Hampton Roads area, Virginia.

Work Details
Required work includes new work dredging by mechanical or bucket plant at the southeastern cell of the CIEE.

The main dike footprint will be deepened to -41 feet mean lower low water (MLLW), while the central and southern access channels will be deepened to -25 feet MLLW. The contract allows for two feet of over depth dredging for both the main dike and access channel footprints.

The maximum allowable depth for the main dike is -46 feet MLLW, and for the access channels, it is -30 feet MLLW. Material removed will be transported by ocean-going scows to the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS), with an estimated volume of 3 million cubic yards to be placed at NODS.

The contractor's responsibilities include dredging within designated areas to specified depths, placing removed material in barges, transporting these barges to NODS, depositing material at NODS, and coordinating with Port of Virginia maritime users to minimize impacts on vessel traffic and other operations.

Period of Performance
The construction period will commence within 21 calendar days after receipt of Notice-to-Proceed (NTP) and will last approximately 572 days from issuance of NTP.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
