This USDA-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service solicitation is for the construction of an addition to a 3,200-sf warehouse at the Forest Pest Management Lab on Joint Base Cape Cod, Buzzard's Bay, MA.

The lab has a pre-manufactured metal building (maintenance building) used to store equipment and supplies. Design services were recently completed by Johnson-McAdams Firm to construct a 1,600-sf addition to the warehouse. This addition will be used to store supplies such as oils, gasoline, antifreeze, and other hazardous materials associated with light maintenance of equipment and vehicles.

The NAICS code for this project is 236220 Commercial and Institutional Building Construction, with a small business size standard of $45 million. The estimated magnitude of the project is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The project is set aside for small business concerns only.

Background
The USDA-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is issuing this solicitation for the construction of a 1,600-sf addition to an existing 3,200-sf warehouse at the Forest Pest Management Lab located on Joint Base Cape Cod, Buzzard’s Bay, MA.

The purpose of this addition is to provide storage for supplies including oils, gasoline, antifreeze, and other hazardous materials related to light maintenance of equipment and vehicles.

Work Details
The construction tasks include:
- Demolition of existing structures as necessary (Division 02 - Existing Conditions).
- Installation of miscellaneous cast-in-place concrete (Division 03 - Concrete).
- Implementation of thermal and moisture protection measures including firestopping and joint sealants (Division 07 - Thermal and Moisture Protection).
- Installation of steel doors and frames, overhead coiling doors, and door hardware (Division 08 - Openings).
- Construction using metal building systems (Division 13 - Special Construction).
- Electrical work including interior distribution systems, interior lighting, and exterior lighting (Division 26 - Electrical).
- Earthwork operations as required for site preparation (Division 31 - Earthwork).
- Installation of chain link fences and gates as part of exterior improvements (Division 32 - Exterior Improvements).

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of approximately 240 days after the Notice to Proceed is issued.

Place of Performance
The construction projects will be performed at the Forest Pest Management Laboratory located at 1398 West Truck Road, Buzzards Bay, MA 02542-1329.
