NASA/NSSC has a requirement for conex box.

NASA/NSSC intends to issue a sole source contract to Farmboxfoods 5389 Plum AVE Sedalia Colorado 80135- 8813 United States under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i). It has been determined that Farmboxfoods is the sole provider of conex box
NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort. Performance will be located at NASA/ Kennedy Space Center (KSC).
The Government intends to acquire commercial items and services using the provisions, clauses and procedures prescribed in FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 13.

The NAICS Code for this procurement is 332999

Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 1:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on 7/31/2025. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.

Background
NASA/NSSC is issuing a sole source contract to Farmbox Foods, located at 5389 Plum AVE, Sedalia, Colorado, for the provision of a conex box. This contract is aimed at supporting NASA’s Interagency Agreement with the Office of Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD). The goal is to acquire an integrated, solar-powered ISO 668 Series 1CC Container for indoor biomanufacturing applications. Farmbox Foods has been determined to be the sole provider for this requirement.

Work Details
Farmbox Foods shall provide the following specifications for the conex box:

1. **Transportation**: A freight container compliant with ISO 1496-1 or -2 with forklift pockets; exterior must be clean of surface imperfections.

2. **Egress**: Standard sized personnel door on the south side; permeate intake line port on the west face; circulation fan on the east face.

3. **Interior**: Chemical resistant wall and floor coatings compliant with OSHA standards.

4. **Environment**: Temperature and humidity-controlled environment; ventilation fans meeting OSHA standards; recommended internal operating temperature between 68-75F, not exceeding 82F.

5. **Power Source**: Integrated solar-powered system providing uninterrupted power without shore-power connection.

6. **Power Distribution**: Three 15-Amp circuits supplying power to four double wall outlets with waterproof covers; must comply with NFPA 70.

7. **Integration**: E-track or similar wall mounting system for hardware mounting.

8. **Water Reservoir System**: A 200 L floor-mounted water tank monitored by sensors for level and electrical conductivity, chemically compatible with fertilizers.

9. **Vertical Garden**: One to two plant growth racks capable of hydroponic growth for cotton, providing a minimum of 32 ft² growth area; dimensions not exceeding width of 10 ft, height of 6 ft, and depth of 3 ft; equipped with grow lights meeting RSO requirements.

10. **Delivery**: Coordinated delivery two weeks prior to installation; driver must be a US citizen and pass background checks; items accompanied by Form DD250 for acceptance at SSPF, Kennedy Space Center.

11. **Training and Consulting**: Operating procedures and maintenance instructions provided upon delivery; completion paperwork for property transfer to NASA KSC.

12. **Warranty**: A 90-day warranty on internal parts and a one-year warranty on the solar system.

Period of Performance
The period of performance shall be no later than November 1, 2026.
