Background
The United States Air Force Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) operates the Hypervelocity Wind Tunnel No. 9 (Tunnel 9) located in White Oak, Maryland. This facility is a world-class ground-test site that utilizes gaseous nitrogen as the working fluid and operates at various Mach numbers (7, 8, 10, 14, and 18).

Tunnel 9 is essential for providing critical aerodynamic test and evaluation data necessary for vehicle development, particularly in hypersonic ground testing and the validation of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Coaxial Thermocouples are identified as critical components for testing operations.
