Background
The solicitation is for the procurement of a CNC Mill - 3D printer needed to produce components for the flight simulator. The NASA AFRC Simulation Engineering Branch requires a high-quality 3D printer that can repeatably and reliably print 3D printed parts with a variety of different materials for simulation cockpits at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base.

Work Details
The CNC Mill should have specific characteristics and specifications including the ability to cut tough metals like titanium, stainless steel, and hardened tool steel as well as softer materials like aluminum, plastics, and wood. It should have a cast iron frame and table, two speed ranges, spindle power rating of 2hp (1.5kW), maximum feed rates for X- and Y-Axis, resolution, axis travel dimensions, table size and weight capacity, machine dimensions/weight, large impact-resistant windows, floodlights, sliding doors, heavy-duty welded steel stand with rolling coolant tank and integrated chip drawer, track coolant system with fill level gauge, chip tray, automatic oil pump for lubrication, lifting bar kit, touchscreen machine control console with jog pendant and override knobs, waterproof keyboard, flood coolant kit with premium semi-synthetic coolant, automatic tool changer, additional features such as MicroARC4 – 100mm 4th axis, rapid turn package, assembly of machine, various vise kits and jaw sets, end mill kit for aluminum #1, passive probe kit, electronic tool setter.
The place of performance is specified as NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base.
